Overlooked Fuel-Economy Boosters
It doesn't matter if you're in a 1992 Sephia or a 2012 Optima Hybrid, poor driving habits means poor fuel economy. In this day and age, due to rising oil and fuel costs, cars are being built to weigh less and drive further on a single tank of gas.
I went to Spitzer Kia West in Parma, Ohio and to learn about the benefits of smart driving. Together with the staff, I looked at Kia's new hybrid site which gives even more tips for increasing fuel economy, regardless of make or model.
Here are a few of the tips:
- Make you car lighter. Empty the trunk and remove excess weight from your vehicle and the MPG will improve. And it'll look better, too.
- Keep tires properly inflated. Checking your tire pressure is fairly easy and you can pick up the tools just about anywhere.
- Keep your windows rolled up; on the freeway that is. While it's not bad to drive with the windows down in the city, the drag created at highway speeds when your windows are down can lower your fuel economy.
